How to Combat Breakouts

Pimples also called acne, occur when your skin’s oil glands are overactive and your pores become inflamed. Some types of skin bacteria may make pimples worse, so be sure to cleanse your face on a daily level.

Because pimples are usually triggered by androgen hormones and genetics, there’s no surefire way to prevent them. But, don’t get discouraged, we offer some tips on how to combat breakouts and keep them in check.

Properly wash your face

To help prevent pimples, it’s important to remove excess oil, dirt, and sweat, daily. Washing your face more than twice a day may make acne worse. However, there is a way you can avoid worsening breakouts. Do not wash your face with harsh cleansers that damage and dry your skin. Look for an alternative, that is alcohol-free, like The Dermalactives Purifying Cleansing Gel.  This incredibly gentle gel purifies the skin by lifting and removing makeup, oil-based debris, and impurities thanks to the calming action of minerals, aloe vera, and fruit extracts.

Know your skin type

Anyone can get pimples, no matter their skin type. Oily skin is just the most pimple-prone because the skin’s sebaceous glands producing too much oily sebum.

Another type of skin that may face often breakouts is combination skin. Combination skin means you have both dry areas and oily areas. The oily areas tend to be your forehead, nose, and chin, also called your T-zone.

A final note on how to combat breakouts is hydration. If you get dehydrated your body may signal your skin’s oil glands to produce more oil. Dehydration also gives your skin a dull appearance and promotes inflammation and redness. Because of this, it is recommended that you drink 8 glasses of water a day, and also to use The Dermalactives Deep Collagen Care Mask. A deeply hydrating mask that purifies the skin by infusing it with collagen and elastin to reduce fine lines and dry skin.
